The New Stack Podcast

The Demise of Microscaling and the Future of Microservices

Episode Summary

On today's episode of The New Stack Makers, TNS Managing Editor Joab Jackson speaks with with Liz Rice, formerly of Microscaling. Liz, and the other two co-founders of Microscaling, Anne Currie and Ross Fairbanks, are thought-leaders in the emerging field container-based microservices. Jackson notes he was, 'Kind of surprised,' when they had announced earlier this month that they were putting their company, Microscaling, on hold. Microscaling had a number of interesting technologies, include software that offers a way to schedule containers based on service-level agreements, and also a format for adding metadata labels to containers—both of these technologies address needs that will clearly be important as containers move into large-scale enterprise operations. In the interview, he hopes to find out why the the decision was made to put Microscaling on ice for the time being.
