Episode Summary

On this episode of The New Stack Makers, TNS Founder Alex Williams sat down with Nicole Huesman, Intel Senior Global Marketing Manager & Open Source Advocate to discuss the company's thoughts and process on centring diversity, and explores their efforts with the OpenStack Project, Bitergia, and Project Chaos to bring about better practices and pipelines surrounding gender identity, gender diversity, and inclusivity. Throughout the conversation, Huesman noted that Intel has been working with Bitergia on gender diversity research, but went on to explain that for Intel, this is just the tip of the iceberg. “We took a look at as a member of the community [and asked] how can we work, what part can we play in building inclusive diversity and inclusion across communities?” Huesman also highlighted that while at Open Source Leadership Summit this March, Intel has also been working alongside the Linux Foundation on the CHAOSS Project, tools designed to measure the health of communities with open source projects.
